A Week in Review

So our little man has been with us for 1 whole week. To answer Mo's question, it seems like he's been here forever, which sounds weird, but I don't know how to explain it otherwise. It's like, where have you been all my life? He fits perfectly in our lives and in our hearts, I can't remember what life used to be like with out him.

We have had quite a week. The recovery from the c-section has been more than I anticipated. Everyone says not to over do things and take it easy, but how is that possible with a newborn who requires feedings every 2 hours, clean diapers, tummy time and fun time as well? Honestly, he's quite a calm baby. All he does is sleep, eat, poop and very rarely fusses. It's just with 2 hour windows, it doesn't leave much time for, say, sleep...

But now we are getting to be pros. Brad is super awesome at swaddling and diaper changes, I happen to be the burping expert. Ty loves to have his back rubbed and I sing to him all the time, so much so that I am starting to sing such classics as Madonna's Papa Don't Preach. What ever it takes, right? I also love tickling his underarms.

I love this picture of Lara, my 3 year-old neice. When she found out that we had a boy she was so disappointed, she said "...but I asked for a girl." Shortly after this picture was taken I heard her whisper, "...but at least he's really cute". I'm glad I could come through with the cuteness at least.

Do you remember all the waiting that we did? Here ya go to refresh your memory.

Another First and Another Delivery

It's amazing how fast a day can go by just by doing the basics like eating and sleeping. But when Ty needs to eat every two hours and need a diaper change and get a nap in between, there doesn't seem to be time for much else.

Mom and Dad stopped by yesterday to see how we were all doing and we were able to get a few good pictures of them with Ty.

Ty's pediatrician suggested that we suppliment some formula while we perfect the art of nursing. So thanks to Nicole's sister-in-law, Ty had another first today. She graciously came by to help offer some breast-feeding advice. In an effort to avoid bottle-feeding the formula, she suggested that we try feeding him with a glass. So here is Ty's first sips from a big boy cup.

And finally if all this going on right now is not enough, we finally got our new kitchen table delivered.
Here's a look at the old table which we were using folding chairs to take the place of the orginial chairs that had started to break and fall apart.

And here is the new table which fits perfectly into the kitchen.

Last but not least I will leave you with this picture of Ty and Brad getting some tummy time together.

Welcome Home Tyler

Introducing Tyler Bradley Gerwatowski.
He was born at 10:41pm on 5/20/10. Weighing in at 7lbs 3oz and 20in long.
We spent the last few days in the hospital recovering but we were able to come home on Sunday night.
We've now made it through 2 nights and everyone is doing great. This is the most amazing experience. Everyone tells you that life is going to change, however, it's impossible to know exactly how this will happen. Well, it's heaven. This little man is wonderful! He is so amazing he has even impressed his doctor. Yesterday we had some tummy time and he was able to flip from his stomach to his back twice! Brad and my Aunt Bonnie did not believe me the first time but then he did it a second time. At the doctors office today during Tyler's exam the doctor asked if we were doing tummy time and we explained that we were and that he had flipped over. He was surprised and almost on cue Tyler decided to show off again and flip from his stomach to his back. The doctor was speechless and said he had never seen that before so early.

Well I'm off to get some much needed sleep, but first here are some pictures from the last few days.

So who do you think he looks more like his mom or dad?

Here's Tyler relaxing and sunbathing his first day home.

It's baby week!

The results are in...

It was a close race, 19 people participated either on FB or through the blog:

Boy: 9 votes
Girl: 10 votes

We'll find out on Thursday or Friday!

The plan is that I go into the hospital tomorrow (Wed) and take some drugs to get the process started. Early Thursday I'll get some more drugs, pitocin, which should start labor. The doc said it could take a 2 days and may increase my need for a c-section.

Please pray for baby bubby to make a safe and healthy journey!

XOXO

The Baby Shower

I was able to get my hands on some photos of the baby shower thanks to Felicia who was the photographer for the evening.

The shower was so much fun. I wish I could've had more time to chat longer with everyone in attendance.

This picture is one of my favorites. It's a picture of Lara and Cameron trying to escape through an open window! It makes me laugh every time! These two really seem to have fun playing together, it's so cute!

For those who weren't able to attend, here's a few pics of me...and the bump!

7 Days and counting, I can't wait to hold my little munchkin in my arms. I get emotional every time I think of Brad holding the little one for the first time. He's going to be such a great dad! We are so excited, we can't believe that we are counting days, instead of weeks.

So my voting idea didn't turn out as much excitement as I would have liked. Thanks for all of those who did vote, and in case you haven't yet, the polls are still open!

Just because I know that my family won't participate I will add their votes.

My sister Holly - thinks it's a girl
My neice Lara - Girl
Dad - Boy
Aunt Jan - Girl
Cousin Kris -Boy
My friend Sarah - Boy
(Actually Holly and Kris have a $20 bet riding on the baby's sex.)

So I am wondering what would stir up more excitement, would you like me to post pictures of the baby's room? The monkey theme turned out super cute, but I must feel the excitement!

Lots of love...

Time to Vote!

I only have a few moments before I am off to an intership interview. I would like everyone to vote whether they think the new addition will be a boy or a girl. I can't wait to see the results!

Feeling Nostalgic

Maureen suggested that I create a blog before the baby comes so that I can upload pics and keep everyone updated. It sounded like a good idea but it's not as easy as I thought. Compared to Mo and Nic, my blog looks like it was created by a 4 year old. We'll see how long this lasts.

With bubby's arrival just around the corner, I can't help but reflect on how this all came to be. Here are some of the most poignant memories from our 5 and a half years together...

Brad and I met on October 1, 2004 at Gus O'Connors Pub in Novi. I saw this guy sitting alone and since I had been abandoned by my friend I decided to go sit strike up a conversation. As I was asking if the seat was taken, Brad strolls up and asks if I am trying to steal his seat. I got flustered and tried to abandon ship. But before I could he grabs another stool and invites me to join them. I was mesmerized by his perfect smile and we ended up talking for the rest of the night...

Two years later Brad proposes to me while on walk around the trails at our apartment. Well actually, when we returned from a romantic walk, after I had just changed into my pjs, even though it was 5 in the evening. After he proposed, all I could say was "I am in my pajamas" and then I said yes!...

Our wedding day was perfect. The weather was beautiful, the day went off without a hitch and my future husband was the most handsome man ever! I remember the door bell ringing first thing in the morning and it was Randy, sent by Brad to see how I was doing. I'm not sure if he was nervous that I would chicken out, but it was such a sweet gesture!

And here we are now, 2 weeks away from meeting our "mini us" and I can't wait! I thank God every day that we met...
